Case Study 3 - Golf on - course recycling proves a winner

Business doesn’t always have to contemplate an expensive refit to achieve your environmental goals; sometimes the smallest changes can reap big results.

As part of a Business Treading Lightly waste management review at The Links Shell Cove, on course recycling has been adopted and early results prove it has been both popular with members and a cost saving exercise for the club. Distinctive red and yellow recycling bins have replaced garbage bins at 6 holes of the 18 hole course. The review plan identified that on- course recycling would result in savings of $3,500 per annum in waste charges and will prevent around 7 tons of waste going to landfill.

According to General Manager, Robby Stephenson the feedback from members has "only been positive. We have had many members comment on the bins and congratulate us”.
